Green Hornet

Just like it's name sake this midge pattern has a great sting. That is, in it's ability to attract trout. The pattern is presented by Davy Wotton and is very successful on the White river system.

Materials

Hook:Tiemco 2487 Sizes 14 -22
Thread:8/0 or 12/0 Black
Tail:White Marabou
Body:Black Wapsi Span-Flex
Thorax:Wapsi SLF Prism, Color: Peacock (194)
Bead Head:5/64 (or to size) Tungsten, Silver or Nickel
Ribbing:Fine wire, Silver or Gold

Tying Instructions

  1. Lay down a thread base just passed the curve of the hook.
  2. Tie in a short marabou tail the length of the hook.
  3. Tie in the ribbing and the spanflex.
  4. Wrap thread forward to the 2/3 point of the hook.
  5. Wrap a body of spanflex to that point and tie off.
  6. Counter wrap ribbing about 5 turns and tie off securely.
  7. Dub in a thorax of Prism, whip finish and cement head.
